Township Officials of Illinois
Townships are often the unheralded provider of services to citizens. In 1995, IGPA and the Township Officials of Illinois established a formal relationship and have collaborated on a wide range of educational programs. Here, as in county government, the flagship program is the TOI Leadership Academy which contains eight days of programming. The TOI Academy is unique because of the diversity of office holders who enroll. Here the challenge is daunting because the structure of Township government has few parallels with county or municipal government and the resources available for Townships to do their job are often quite limited. Given these realities, our efforts are focused on building skills and increasing the capacity of Townships to govern and administer programs.
